What are the entry requirements for Covid?
Travelers over the age of 6 traveling into Italy from France must present a valid health passport or meet one of the following three conditions, the Quai d’Orsay emphasizes:
- a complete vaccination plan recognized by the European Medicines Agency (2 doses for a 2-dose vaccine and 1 dose for a single-dose vaccine). To circulate in Europe, this vaccination program is valid for 9 months after the last dose.
- or proof of healing (positive PCR or antigen test lasting at least 11 days and less than 6 months);
- or a negative test result antigen less than 48 hours or PCR less than 72 hours.
Travelers without valid evidence of vaccination, improvement or adverse outcome should self-insulate for 5 daysat the address indicated on the placement form, the website indicates Re-open.eu.
Good to know : Italy also conducts “random tests at airports, ports and land borders, including for travelers who have already been vaccinated”, specifies the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.
Since May 1 is the form Passenger Locator Form is no longer required to go to Italy. This document, which therefore no longer needs to be completed, was introduced for the summer of 2021 to locate the traveler in case of Covid infection during the journey.
Passport or identity card?
For a stay of up to three months, French citizens must have a valid identity document: national identity card or passport.
As a reminder, French National Identity Cards (CNIs) issued to adults between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2013 remain valid for 5 years after the expiration date stated on the back. And “the Italian authorities have officially accepted this extension,” states Quai d’Orsay.
“But to avoid inconvenience during your trip, it is strongly recommended to prefer the use of a valid passport rather than a CNI with an expiration date, even if it is considered by the French authorities to be still valid.” added the ministry.
Mask required for transport
Italy is heading for a gradual return to normalcy in the fight against Covid.
Since March 11, the nightclubs have reopened. And above all, everywhere in the entire national territory, the mask is no longer essential in the open air. But you must always have one on hand to be able to carry it in case of congestion, even outside, said the Ministry of Health.
It is mandatory to wear the FFP2 mask in all means of transport in Italy, including aircraft, Quai d’Orsay mentions. Ditto in cinemas, theaters, concert halls.
Sanitation card on site
The destination continues to apply measures to restrict the circulation of the virus, the ministry also states.
From the age of 12, places and activities are subject to a “basic” health pass (evidence of vaccination, improvement or negative test): restaurants and bars inside, stadiums, sporting events outside, the boats.
Others require an “enhanced” health pass (proof of vaccination or cure): nightclubs, congresses, cinemas, theaters and concert halls …
Italy, a green country
Italy is one of the “green” countries on the map drawn up by the French government.
From Italy to France, non-vaccinated persons must perform a Covid test or present a health certificate before boarding.
Italy has paid a high price for the crisis with more than 150,000 deaths since March 2020.
