The Committee on Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs and Moroccans living abroad on Tuesday organized a round table discussion in Rabat on the latest developments regarding the first national case.
The possibility for Members to be informed of the progress of the process of resolving the issue of territorial integrity in a context characterized by the increasingly favorable reception of the self-governing proposal within the framework of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and its sovereignty.
In his speech, the Delegate Minister for Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman Mustapha Baitas, emphasized that “the approaches that the Kingdom has taken in this matter have evolved in line with a changing international context, very often with its great pressure “. before welcoming “the remarkable action and the considerable effort” of civil society in its defense of the national cause.
In this context, he highlighted the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights in supporting associations to help them carry out their advisory mission correctly and effectively in international fora.
And on this occasion, announce that the Government is currently working on developing a national strategy on civil society with a view to consolidating efforts to support the latter and to strengthen its advisory status.
For his part, Fouad Bazough, the Ambassador, Director-General for Bilateral Relations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, reaffirmed that “the proposal for autonomy for the southern provinces has been presented by Morocco in response to the international community’s call. to a consensual solution and to alleviate the crisis ”.
Noting that this Moroccan proposal has been widely and positively received by the international community, the diplomat noted that the development of the last two years, mainly marked by the inauguration of several consulates in the southern provinces, is a constructive illustration of the solidity of the Moroccan position and national mobilization, thanks to the high instructions of HM King and the far-sighted royal vision in matters of international relations, and also in respect for the sovereignty of the kingdom over its territory and the preservation of his interests.
He also added that Morocco’s involvement in international initiatives and fora is part of a coherent national policy that has enabled the country to impose its credibility in the eyes of the international community, in particular in its response to environmental, political and security challenges surrounding about in the world.
Thanks to this approach, Morocco is now known and recognized for its role as an active and even significant player in favor of stability in Africa and in the world.
Similarly, the chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs and Moroccans living abroad, Nadia Bouaida, indicated that the positive development in favor of the question of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom was possible thanks to the far-sighted and proactive vision of the sovereign, modernist community project as a strategic choice of the kingdom and provides a predominant interest in the African enlargement of Morocco in an effective materialization of south-south solidarity cooperation.
She also said that the respect and consideration that Morocco enjoys in regional and international fora as well as the inauguration of democracy in the country in the perspective of a new model of development are all fundamental elements that are conducive to the consolidation of Morocco’s role as an important player in the country’s African enlargement and its Arab and Euro-Mediterranean environment.
Mrs Bouaida also welcomed the positive reception of the Moroccan proposal for autonomy from the international community, which considers this initiative to be fundamental in any search for a final solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue, and calls for move a gear to prepare the ground. for a final solution that paved the way for the return to their homeland for those sequestered in the Tindouf camps, to get involved with their compatriots in the management of their affairs within the framework of the autonomy proposed by Morocco.
Member of Parliament Leïla Dahi, for her part, stressed that the resounding diplomatic successes achieved by Morocco are the culmination of the Sovereign’s far-sighted vision, which is the cause of active and effective diplomacy, which has made it possible to multiply successes with numerous recognitions of Saharan Moroccanism, in particular in USA.
Diplomatic successes that strengthen the priority of the Moroccan autonomy proposal and reflect “soft power” in the form of Moroccan diplomacy, which is based on clarity, firmness and consistency, she said, before concluding that this reality anchors the role of southern provinces as Morocco’s gateway to Africa.
