“My country supports the Autonomy Initiative presented by Morocco and described by the Security Council as serious and credible in driving the process towards a solution” of the regional dispute over the Sahara, the United Arab Emirates representative emphasized at the annual meeting . of the Committee of 24 (C24) of the United Nations.

This initiative represents an “important solution”, which is in line with the Charter and UN resolutions, and which preserves the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco, she noted.

The United Arab Emirates also expressed its continued support for the political process launched since 2007 under the exclusive auspices of the UN Secretary-General and his personal envoy, aiming to reach a realistic, pragmatic and compromise political solution.

Kuwait also reaffirmed in New York its support for a political solution to the issue of the Moroccan Sahara within the framework of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Kuwait reiterates its support for the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative in the sense that it provides a constructive basis for finding a mutually acceptable solution between all parties with respect for Morocco’s unity and sovereignty,” he said. UN 24 (C24) and reiterates the Gulf countries’ united stance on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.

He also renewed his country’s support for the efforts of the UN Secretary – General, which made it possible to hold two round tables in Geneva with the participation of Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania and the “polisario”, in accordance with relevant Security Council resolutions. .

The state of Qatar also stressed to members of the UN Committee on 24 (C24) in New York that the “constructive” autonomy initiative presented by Morocco is the basis of any realistic solution to the conflict.

The representative of Qatar expressed his country’s support for the UN Secretary – General’s efforts to achieve a lasting and mutually acceptable political solution within the framework of the process carried out under the auspices of the UN and in accordance with the national sovereignty of Morocco.

In this regard, he praised the efforts of the personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, to restart the political process around the Moroccan Sahara and expressed the desire to see a final solution to this conflict in the interest of all. parties and in favor of strengthening stability and cooperation in the region.

Same story for Jordan, who reiterated, before the members of the Committee of 24 (C24) of the UN, his constant stance in support of Morocco’s territorial integrity.

The Jordanian representative highlighted Morocco’s commitment to reaching a final and compromise solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue through the presentation of the 2007 Autonomy Plan.

This is a “serious and realistic plan”, which takes into account the special circumstances of the region as well as the full sovereignty of Morocco over all its territories, he noted, noting that the self-help plan is in line with the United Nations Charter. .

The Jordanian diplomat also praised the UN Secretary – General’s efforts to advance the political process towards a realistic and lasting solution to this issue based on the relevant Security Council resolutions.

At the same time, the speaker emphasized to the committee the efforts made by Morocco to improve living conditions in the southern provinces in particular and to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
